Eco Church

Eco Church Team at St Luke's and St Paul's

Eco Church is an initiative that St. Luke’s and St. Paul’s are pursuing to try and implement positive actions for the planet. A Rocha UK, the organisation that set up Eco Church, refers to it as a “learning community of churches” and provides a framework to help us know what we’re doing right for the earth, and where we can make changes for the better.

We’re involved because we recognise the causes and impacts of climate change, and want to work towards climate equality. We want to respond to God’s call for us to be stewards of the earth and to fight for justice.

As well as taking practical steps to care for the world and lessen our negative impact where we can, we aim to use Eco Church to create a space where the question of climate change is addressed and present with an open and safe space to learn and discuss.

Our early focus has been our gardens, including planting bee-friendly plants, making bug hotels and reaching out to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust for their advice.
